This spring, the Split branch of CPSA, under the leadership of coordinator Anamarija Klasan, organized the Compounding Event for the second year in a row. The event took place on April 12 and 13, 2025, at the premises of the University of Split School of Medicine.
The goal of this event was to introduce students to pharmaceutical compounding, with a particular focus on skin care formulations. In line with this, the theme of this year’s competition was a personalized approach to problematic skin.
On the first day, students had the opportunity to attend a lecture on pharmaceutical bases for compounding, delivered by mag. pharm. Eleonora De Lai. Afterwards, they participated in a workshop where they created compounded preparations themselves. They were assisted by mag. pharm. Ružica Kapov and mag. ing. chem. inz. Josip Kos, representatives of Fagron, the main sponsor of the event. Participants were then divided into pairs, and the six pairs who completed the test most accurately and quickly advanced to the next stage of the competition held the following day.
On the second day, the selected pairs proceeded to independently prepare four compounded formulations. The compounding process was overseen by a jury composed of the aforementioned Fagron representatives and doc. dr. sc. Josipa Bukić, a professor at the University of Split School of Medicine. The jury evaluated the participants based on the preparation process, the quality and properties of the formulations, and the level of collaboration within the pairs. The top three pairs received valuable prizes. First place was awarded to Josip Vučković and Anamarija Ratković, second place went to Daniela Soldić and Marta Sardelić, and the third prize was awarded to Morena Ivašković and Tonka Mateljak. The jury emphasized that the differences among the competitors were minimal and sincerely congratulated all participants.
The editorial team of Recipe also extends their heartfelt congratulations, hoping that next year’s event will once again gather a large number of students!
In addition to Fagron, which provided the raw materials for compounding and gifts for the participants, other sponsors of the event included Medical Intertrade, Pharmagal, the Galenic Laboratory of Pharmacies of the Split-Dalmatia County, and Pharmaceris, who also provided cosmetic product gifts for the participants.
