Tea Škabić

Tea Škabić, the Deputy Editor-in-chief, was born in Pula in 2000 where she graduated from elementary school and high school. She had an accentuated interest in chemistry from the beginning of her education and because of this she decided to study pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry in Zagreb. During the academic year 2019/2020 she became a member of the Croatian Pharmacy and Medical Biochemistry Students’ Association (CPSA) and an active member of Recipe. Her fields of interest include Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry and in her free time she likes listening to Damir Urban and enjoying long walks by the sea.

Why are we resistant to antibiotics but not to vaccines?

Pretjerana i često iracionalna upotreba antibiotika dovele su pojačane rezistencije bakterija (i ljudi) na vrlo visok broj lijekova, čime je značajno porasla i zabrinutost oko provođenja mogućih terapija. S druge strane, cijepljenje je još uvijek najbolji način prevencije smrtonosnih bolesti. Zašto cjepiva, za razliku od antibiotika, ne izazivaju razvoj rezistencije, a time i dalje nesmetano uspješno djeluju?
